Cellphone shops stay shuttered in Noida - 28th Oct 2007
Hundreds of shops selling cellular phones here stayed shuttered on Saturday in protest against, according to their owners, "the anti-trader policies of cellular phone manufacturers". Today was the fifth day of the protest. Shopowners want mobile phone manufacturers to stop selling their products directly to buyers and offer incentives to unorganised retailers, on par with what they offer to organised retailers, said Rahul Gupta, general secretary, Noida Mobile Phone Retailers Welfare Association. Representatives of cellphone manufacturers are holding talks with the retailers but no acceptable solution has emerged so far.
